Books on Scotland

I wrote this book to be used with a map of Scotland (yes, there are general maps of each area in the book) to help you know what is in the area you plan to visit. Each site has a brief description and a link to a website (if they have one) so you can find out more details if your interest is piqued. It is not a book full of beautiful pictures, nor in-depth history, more of a guide.I grew up less than 5 miles from Hopetoun House and have visited it. I have walked, cycled, and driven through its grounds more times than I can remember, but I never realized that Midhope Castle (Lallybroch in Outlander) was only 1.5 miles away. That’s what I have tried to address in this book, by listing every major attraction and many minor ones within geographical areas, you will know what is close by and won’t miss something that you will regret later.I have also listed many sites that are free to enter.
